Race Day Information


The Race
The Abbot Kinney One is a USATF-certified, one-mile race presented by On and Electrolit, produced by Venice Run Club.
This fast, flat course welcomes everyone, from beginners running their first race to elite athletes pushing their limits against top competition. And, of course, our four-legged friends can join in on the fun during the dog mile.
Set against the backdrop of one of California’s most iconic streets, runners will feel at home in their chosen heat for an unforgettable race-day experience.
The route starts at the intersection of Coeur d’Alene Avenue and Abbot Kinney Boulevard, finishing just past Westminster Avenue.
Heat Schedule
The Abbot Kinney One mile race comprises 11 heats ranging from the Friends and Family category to Elite athletes. This race is a community event. Everyone is invited to come and run the mile, a distance all ages and abilities can enjoy.

FAQs
If you plan to participate in the Abbot Kinney One, we encourage you to register before race day. However, same-day registration will be available. We welcome everyone to join us in support of the Venice Community and enjoy a great day of racing.
We will be calling participants to assemble at the starting line 10 minutes before their assigned group wave time.
Yes, portable restrooms will be located in the athlete zone between the start line and W Washington Blvd.
There is plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods, and pay lots nearby.
For your safety and for that of all participants, we recommend that you do not use any electronic devices while participating in the Abbot Kinney One.
Abbot Kinney is beautiful so you can’t go wrong with any location but the second half of the race after the runners reach Venice Blvd & Abbot Kinney Ave is where the action is.
This year we offer three free, non-competitive options for participants 18 and under:
- Friends & Family Mile (noncompetitive)
- Youth Mile (Ages 6–11)
- Junior High & High School Mile
There are no finisher medals.
No. Bibs are not transferable.
Yes, but the proxy must have a copy of your license and a copy of your race entry confirmation. No exceptions.
No race day pick up.
Packet pick up will take place at the Parking Lot (2150 Dell Ave, Venice, CA 90291).

Choosing to compete in the Elite wave, you will forgo eligibility for age group awards as only those participating in the Masters and Open waves will be eligible.
Yes, but note that only Masters runners participating in the Master’s wave will be eligible for Masters-specific awards.

The Friends & Family wave consists of youth runners (17 years or younger) and also participants looking for a less competitive Abbot Kinney One experience. Beginners, back-of-the-packers, families, jogging strollers, and youth participants will have a chance to share and enjoy the course together and close out the event.
Yes. The ceremony will take place at the festival village. There will be a rolling awards schedule throughout the day as the individual waves take place. Announced awards will be distributed to the overall winners of the Masters, Open, and Elite waves.
Yes. Only participants in the competitive heats are eligible for cash prizes.

The race timing will be done utilizing Chronotrack. The timing sensors will be on the backside of your race number.
Yes. There will be both net and gun timing results provided for participants. Gun time results are used for award determination purposes.
